When I found Dr. Alice Pickering on Instagram I thought, “Wow, this women gets it!” Dr. Alice is a licensed clinical psychologist who focuses on maternal mental health and what she shares is relatable and deeply resonates with me and so many pregnant and postpartum women.

In this episode, Dr. Alice and I talk through the different mental health considerations from pregnancy to postpartum and beyond. Dr. Alice sheds light on the spectrum of postpartum depression and anxiety. Plus we talk about athlete brain and her advice to new moms.

MORE ABOUT DR. ALICE PICKERING:

Dr. Pickering is a licensed clinical psychologist who believes that every mama deserves to enjoy motherhood. She obtained her doctorate degree in psychology from Midwestern University and has worked with a wide array of mental health concerns from her clinical experiences at the state hospital. She also teaches a variety of college courses at Grand Canyon University including Personality Psychology, Abnormal Psychology, and Child and Adolescent Psychology.

After becoming a mother, Dr. Pickering shifted her focus on maternal mental health. Through her personal experience of motherhood, Dr. Pickering became aware of the challenges that accompany such a journey long before it even starts. She also became aware of the limited focus on maternal mental health before, during, and after pregnancy.

Dr. Pickering has a passion for writing and offering education and insight around mental health and well-being, particularly as it relates to motherhood. She is also a wife and enthusiast for DIY home decor.
